Job Description:
The Printmaking Department of Maryland Institute College of Art invites applications for two full-time positions with a multi-year renewable contract in a non-tenure institution. Begins: Fall 2010. The faculty position will teach eighteen credits per year (three courses per semester) at an art school nationally known for its dedication to teaching excellence, a rigorous liberal arts curriculum and the importance of the fine arts. The candidate will be capable of teaching all levels of printmaking, including basic foundation print-media; mid and upper level courses, and Junior Seminar and Senior Thesis. The faculty position is expected to participate in maintaining a growing print facility that occupies three floors of the Dolphin Building. Overseeing and maintaining equipment is part of the educational responsibility, and an integration of this practice into the curriculum, with a focus on health and safety, is mandatory. Dolphin Press & Print--an integrated, cross-disciplinary, collaborative print studio--is located within the print department, and several courses are taught "within" the Press. In addition to teaching, all full-time faculty are required to participate in institutional governance, faculty assembly and committees, departmental service, departmental events and student activities.
Requirements:
- MFA degree
- Minimum 5 years of full-time teaching experience above the Teaching Assistant level
- Knowledge of technologies in the printmaking discipline, including lithography, intaglio, screen printing, letterpress and all digital and photo processes
- Broad knowledge of historical as well as contemporary art issues and practices with an emphasis on critical theory and global perspective in print media
- Successful Candidate will be required to complete Employment and Education Verifications
Valued but not required: - Master Printer background or experience in artist collaborative-printing
- Professional record of research and participation within their field, contributing professionally at lectures, symposiums and residencies
