Job Description:

The Graphic Design Department of Maryland Institute College of Art invites applications for a full-time position with a multi-year renewable contract in a non-tenure institution.

Begins: Fall 2010. The college seeks a graphic designer and educator who will bring exceptional visual and critical abilities to a vibrant graphic design department at an art school nationally known for its dedication to teaching excellence, a rigorous liberal arts curriculum, and the importance of the fine arts and design.

The graphic design program's well-rounded curriculum encourages students to explore traditional and emerging media across disciplines of art and design. The ideal candidate would demonstrate design excellence, engage innovative teaching methods, and inspire students to become design leaders. The candidate would teach three courses per semester (a range of introductory and advanced courses) and would actively participate in the administration of the department and institution. The successful candidate must have attained significant professional achievement in graphic design, and demonstrate commitment to designing for online communication. We seek a leader, passionate student mentor, and generous colleague who can further develop our design community.

Requirements:

  • MFA degree
  • Minimum 3 years of college level teaching or equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in creative work
  • Successful Candidate will be required to complete Employment and Education Verifications

C. is located 40 minutes to the south and New York City only 2-1/2 hours to the north by train.
