Job Description:

Report to: Performance Space Technician and Sceneographer

Dates: Spring 2010

Hours: 20-25 hours per week, schedule negotiable

Duration: 8 - 12 weeks, schedule negotiable.  Internship lasts from pre-production/build to end of spring run.  This Internship will assist with Stage Managing 2 productions

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Work study / school credit is highly encouraged.

Prior To Production:

Intern will work directly with the production's Director, Stage Manger, Performers and Technical personnel, as an apprentice Stage Manger / Assistant Stage Manager.   Intern will assist with running rehearsals, taking notes, collecting data, and organizing 2 productions during Spring '10.

During Production:

After opening, intern duties will include calling show cues, assisting with set changes and costume changes and keeping the production organized, focused, safe, and consistent. Intern will assist in a load-in/load-out.

This is a hands-on Internship and is ideal for individuals who want to refine their Stage Management experience.  This internship will impart a working knowledge of professional stage management through the learn-by-doing atmosphere, and to prepare the intern to work in the professional theater.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with set Stage Management techniques and an extreme focus on details
  • Excellent people skills
  • Some prior Stage Management skills
  • Creative application of stage craft skills
  • Interns will have an irregular schedule including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Interns are expected to show excellent logistical/organizational skills, strong time management, ability to work independently and as part of a team, have excellent verbal and written communication and take initiative to solve set construction problems
  • Knowledge of OpenOffice / Microsoft Office programs

Valued but not required:

  • Experience with front of house
