Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Media Resources manages the Media Resources Collection (MRC) including establishing departmental policies and procedures, database administration and plans for implementing collection initiatives for the MRC. The position plans and allocates operating budget in collaboration with the Director of Decker Library, oversees digital initiative project and data structure of the digital image catalog, plans and organizes acquisitions and integration of analog and digital media technology and services. The position reports directly to the Director of Decker Library. Duties include: - Manages staff members and work-study students in the MRC. Responsible for hiring and evaluating staff
- Plans and allocates MRC operating budget in collaboration with Director of Decker Library
- Establishes departmental procedures and policies
- Manages the organization and structure of digital image database and website.
- Helps students and faculty members access and use ARTstor, the MRC catalog and related resources and software for teaching digitally
- Processes Special Collections digital images: color correcting, cleaning, resizing, images in Photoshop, archiving master images to database records and uploading to website
- Provides reference and circulation services to patrons.
- Participates in local and national professional organizations.
- three MRC staff members and work study students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelors in Art, Art History or relevant field,
- 3-4 years visual resources, special collections or digital archives experience
- Knowledge of database/information architecture
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other imaging software and digital media technologies
- Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills
- Supervisory experience
- Instructional technology experience
Valued but not required: - Master's degree in Library or Information Science, Information Technologies or equivalent educational/work experience
- Cataloging experience with VRA Core, CCO or AACRII records
