Job Description:

Report to: Performance Space Technician and Sceneographer

Dates: Spring 2010

Hours: 15-20 hours per week, schedule negotiable

Duration: 8 - 12 weeks, schedule negotiable.  Internship lasts from pre-production/build to end of spring run.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. Work study / school credit is highly encouraged.

Prior To Production:

Intern will work directly with the production's Sceneographer, Technical personnel, and Director as an apprentice painter, glazer, and finisher.  Scenic painting, color mixing, glazing, texturizing, minimal carpentry, and power tool use as well as priming and surface preparation.

During Production:

After opening, intern duties will include paint touch-ups, repair and maintenance of the set, and being in charge of material / supply restock.

This internship is ideal for individuals who want to refine their scenic painting, technical paint application and color relationship skills. This internship hopes to impart a working knowledge of design implementation, and to prepare the intern to work in the professional theater. This is a hands-on Internship.

Requirements:

  • Some prior scenic painting experience
  • Familiarity with scenic painting, color mixing, glazing techniques, texturizing techniques, minimal carpentry, and power tool use
  • Minimum time commitment of 15 hours per week
  • Interns will have an irregular schedule including evenings, nights and weekends
  • Interns are expected to show excellent logistical/organizational skills, strong time management, ability to work independently and as part of a team, have excellent verbal and written communication
  • Knowledge of OpenOffice / Microsoft Office programs
