| Associate Vice President for Development / Senior Major Gift

Job Description:
The Associate Vice President for Development / Senior Major Gifts Officer provides primary staff management and coordination for the critical Major Gifts component of the College's planned campaign and functions as a member on the Campaign Strategy Team focused on the fundraising initiative with an anticipated goal of $100 million. This individual will: develop and oversee a coordinated major gift prospect management system with special focus on individual donors; organize and coordinate an effective network of volunteers involved in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts; and serve as an active major gift officer with high-potential individual prospects. The position reports directly to the Vice President for Advancement. Duties include: - Direct a disciplined major gift prospect management system that effectively identifies, cultivates, and solicits individual major donors
- Provide staff leadership in managing and supporting a focused volunteer network of Trustees, alumni, parents and other friends who serve as important advocates and partners in the Campaign effort
- Personally manage a pool of 50-100 high-potential individual major gift prospects
- Manage a major gift team
- Work closely with the Associate Vice President for Development, Alumni & Parent Relations in coordinating a comprehensive major gift program that utilizes the division's full resources and talents
- Assist the Vice President in defining and coordinating an effective planned giving program as a component of the overall Campaign effort
- Provide staff support to Campaign Steering Committee
- Work closely with senior Advancement staff in shaping effective communications strategies to support Campaign priorities
- Participate in overall College-wide strategic planning efforts as member of Senior Staff Council
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible and demonstrably successful experience in soliciting individuals at the major gifts level
- Ability to serve as an effective advocate for art and design education
- Staff and program management and team building experience in a high-energy development office
- Expertise managing a campaign, or other focused, large-scale fundraising project
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in budget development and oversight
- Proven skill in engaging and directing volunteers in fundraising
- Ability to make sound decisions and consensus building
- Ability and willingness to travel and to work non-routine hours to achieve goals
- Successful Candidate will be required to complete a full background check
Valued but not required: - Advanced degree
- Experience with higher education, marketing and arts/cultural organizations
Additional Information:
Salary: 100 - 110K, negotiable and commensurate with experience; includes extensive benefits package.
